The theme for the 2026 NATA Convention focuses on neurodiversity & indigenous languages, which is important and relevant for all NATA members. According to the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation, embracing neurodiversity helps teachers shift from a deficit-based model to one that empowers all learners.
Date: 13th, 14th & 15th October
Location: Plaza 88, Prince Albert
Convention Host: Ministik Community School

By recognizing that every brain processes the world differently, educators can reduce learning barriers, foster empathy, and create inclusive environments where all students—neurodivergent or neurotypical—can thrive.
We will also shift focus on day three to the importance of language and culture in the classroom.
With a focus on Cree and Dene, we will learn why language revitalization is so important for our students and communities and why it is our job, whether fluent or not, to incorporate language in our teachings.

On October 13th we will welcome Dr. Grant Bruno from the University of Alberta. Dr. Bruno is a registered member of Samson Cree Nation and his keynote "Reclaiming Indigenous Understandings of Autism and Neurodivergence" will inspire educators to further understand Autism and neurodivergence through an indigenous lens to better understand our students and their needs.
On October 15th we will welcome two language speakers, Senapan Thunder and Willis Janvier.
Senapan Thunder has a passion and dedication for sharing nêhiyawêwin and she has been recognized by the Saskatchewan Order of Merit for her work in language revitalization.
Willis Janvier is a language advocate who is fluent in his dene language and he shares his knowledge and understanding of the importance of language revitalization. His keynote "Using the Media to Revitalize Language and Culture and Creating a Safe Space for All to Learn" will inspire educators to incorporate language in their classrooms.

On top of our inspirational speakers, we have an exciting line up of vendors ready for our members. We look forward to seeing you in our convention 2026.
